OCTOBER - NOVEMBER 2002

We bring you greetings in the precious name of Jesus who continually saves, delivers and makes whole the spirit, soul, and body! We have seen the Lord Jesus continue His faithfulness in our lives and ministry here in Kenya.

We began October with a meeting in a home church just outside of Nakuru where Pastor Sherish, a former student at Njoro Bible College, is currently residing. Naya Jeevan Sanghat is primarily an Asian fellowship that has sprouted up as a result of men and women from the Indian community that have become born again and have also desired that others come to the knowledge of Christ in this community and country. Gary taught on the New Covenant of God’s grace and mercy and we believe that hearts and eyes were opened to the realities that God has offered to all those who receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Janet ministered at a ladies meeting on the 12th of Oct. at Pastor David Keriuki’s Church, Glorious Church Ministries, in a suburb of Nakuru, where hearts were ministered to concerning the place of man and women in the family and in the church. On Sunday, Gary ministered at the Keriuki’s Church again with 2 services in the morning and a 3rd in the afternoon with the couples of the church.

On the 16th of Oct. we went to Itumbe, which is outside of Kisii. The Elshadi Church pastured by Orenge had not entertained outside visitors before, so we were the first ones to visit this church. The meetings went well, although attendance was mostly children. They have a pre-school and 1st grade school being taught in the church on a volunteer basis. They hope to add 2nd grade to the school to reach out to those who are in their neighborhood so they can affect as many children as possible. Gary taught on David & Goliath because so many children were in attendance the first service. The children and the adults both were blessed by the ministry. We also had evening services outside and about 35 men, ladies, and children came to the Lord Jesus Christ while others were able to hear of His goodness and a desire that they be saved.

The only problem we encountered was a flat tire, but had to look all over the city for a special socket that we could not find in our vehicle to change the tire. Roads in some places were very bad and we had to use the 4 wheel drive in our vehicle again to get through the difficult places. At one point we kept getting stuck for about an hour because the road (path) was pitched severely from left to right and we kept sliding into the bushes and barbed wire fence and had to be pushed out by hand by those who were with us. Life is never dull in Kenya!!

While in Kisii, we visited the soap stone quarry, which is where all the local curios (market merchants) get their stone from to carve and sell to tourist. We were able to pick up a few items there at a really good price compared to our local curios merchants here in Nakuru.

Janet's wedding cake We ministered again in Pastor Machariah’s fellowship, Greater Shakinah Glory Church. Gary ministered on how faith works, while Janet ministered to the children. She says that it pays to be instant in season and out of season here in Kenya, as she was called to minister without any notice!

Janet made her 1st ever wedding cake here in Kenya at the request of Pastor Makichi for his assistant Pastor Moturi.  He was married on the 9th of November and many attended, both those who were invited and those who came in off of the street.

On the 14th of November we went to Naivasha, where we ministered at Pastor Peter Murunga’s church at Maximum Miracle Centre (see Testimony 3 below). During the meetings, 11 came to Jesus while more rededicated their lives to Him. Many came to the altar for healing and needs as the Lord was present to minister to all of them. Gary helped Pastor Murunga baptize on Saturday as 17 came to dedicate their lives and to identify with the life, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We had a keshe, (all night prayer meeting) on the 15th and drunks came and were saved while others were stirred with new hope and faith in Christ. Gary taught on Miracles, Signs, and Wonders while the Lord confirmed His Word (Please read the Testimonies at the bottom of this page!!). Pastor Murunga’s house girl received payment of her school fees, while others came forward to testify of His goodness and mercy. On Sunday, the church was completely full and hearts were ministered to as some came for healing, salvation & personal needs.

On the 24th Gary ministered at Vineyard Christian Fellowship, and they ask if we would come back and minister on a regular basis. This church did not have any sides, but had a roof. They seemed to be flowing in unity and worship in a greater extent than most of the churches that we have visited here in Kenya.

On Friday, the 3rd year students at Njoro Bible College were given a banquet and on Saturday they graduated with much celebration. We were not able to stay for the banquet, as we had to return to town to see about some additional repairs on the vehicle. We did however present to each of the six 3rd year students a Strongs Bible Concordance with the provision of the Lord through your faithfulness and support. We have concluded our ministry at the Bible College and will now focus on the other areas of ministry such as seminars, crusades, and Sunday ministry in and for the local churches in Kenya as the Lord leads. Please know that without your love for us and the work of God, these things can not and would not be accomplished!

Janet made seven flags. Six were for college graduation

We also visited Kengen Geothermal Power Corporation, while we were in Naivasha, about 15 miles on the outskirts of the town. This company digs wells on a volcano and then uses the steam for power for local cities in Kenya. This is where we get out electricity from here in Kenya. They hope to be more of a source for the power company here in Kenya in the future as they get sponsors for drilling more wells. We visited in the power control room and visited some of the plant. It was very interesting as well as informing us that we were standing on top of a volcano that was active!!

The political race for the position of the President of Kenya is heating up here in Kenya as the day of election is rapidly approaching us on the 27th of December. We covet your prayers of protection and prayers of peace over this country as we reach the climax of election and even after the election as there could possibly be some repercussions to the outcome of the election.

We want to thank you all for your prayers, gifts, and partnership with us as we continue to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in doing His will and work here in Kenya.

In Christ's Service and Love,

Gary & Janet Priem

INTERESTING AND WONDERFUL TESTIMONIES!!

Testimony 1: While at Naivasha, one young boy, Mike, who was 2 1/2 was brought at the request of his mother Joyce, who said that he was afflicted by a demon. He had not been eating for 3 weeks and had not been able even to say mama or daddy or ever act as a normal 2 ˝ year old. His head and arms were constantly flopping around. Deliverance was administered, and we have just received news that on the following Wednesday they saw the child eating and in a normal state of being. The head no longer flops around and he is behaving as a normal child. Praise His name forever!!

Testimony 2: One man that was completely backslidden and drunk came in on Friday night and received prayer and forgiveness from the Lord. He came clean and forgiven on Sunday morning. Praise His Name forever!

Testimony 3: The following is a testimony of Pastor Murunga who has recently started a church in Naivasha town:

I was a chef in the army, when in 1982 I was shot in the stomach in a coup. I was in the hospital for 11 years as a result of the injury and could not eat anything but light foods. Then last year when I was living in Letein, Missionary Priem came to our town and ministered the Word of God for 4 days. I was doing evangelistic work there but still suffering with my wound until Priem prayed for me. God healed me through his ministry and has also begun some wonderful things in my life. After Priem prayed for me, I felt a calling to start a church. After seeking God through prayer with my wife, we felt that we were to start a church in Naivasha town. God has been faithful to us through many lives, giving us a place to stay and a hall to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus. We are still trusting Him each and every day and we are seeing God do miracles, signs and wonders for many people there.

Testimony 4: Another testimony through Pastor Murunga about a young man that was asked by his wife every Sunday to come to church. Then he was planning to go into town on the 17th to get a local paper, but was approached by a member of Pastor Murunga’s church and invited to come to church because he said they had missionary visitors. The man came on Sunday and was saved, and came again on Sunday evening for the couples meeting. Praise the Saving mercies of the Lord!!
