HOLD FAST YOUR CONFIDENCE!Hold fast your confidence today! That is so important with things in the world becoming more and more unsure. The temptation for you and I will be to give up on our Walk of Faith toward God, but do not do it! That is exactly what the enemy of righteousness desires. Instead, hold fast your confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Word, and instead dig into His Covenant Word all the more, meditating on it to combat the evils of this world. The Word will deliver you, for God is watching over it to perform it in your life and has sent it to accomplish good.
Hebrews 3:6 “Christ was faithful as a son over His house whose house we are, IF we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.”
Hebrews 3:14 “For we have become partakers of Christ IF we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end.”
Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be which goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, without succeeding in the matter in which I sent it.”
Be blessed today! Hold fast your confidence in Him.

THE IMPACT OF GOD’S WORD AS SEEN IN THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER
WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, WHAT DO WE FIND OURSELVES DOING?
I have a serious question to ask each of you today, and that is: What do you do when disaster strikes your life or someone close to you? It is a sobering question, one that may lead us back to a thought, or painful situation, that we might have not handled quite the way we desired to handle. If you and I are not satisfied with the way we handled that situation, crises or disaster, then we need to know what we can do the next time one comes knocking at our door. When there is eminent death that threatens us or a family member from sickness or disease, or when a financial crises comes our way, or an unmovable mountain seems to stand in our way, we of necessity need to know how to respond to it and what to do. The lesson that we have today may help insure all of us that we are not floundering around, hoping needlessly that something will work out, but instead, by directing us back to the foundations of our faith in God, we can know that we have help in our current situation.
When disaster comes to each of us, as disasters seem to come, what is our reaction? If we are quite honest, we often wonder where we "missed it", or how did we “leave the barn door open” so to speak. We tend to panic in our situation and look to everything and everybody to help us except the One that we have given ourselves to in faith. If we look to the spiritual pilgrims before us, they seemed to react a little different than we do today.
In the 13th chapter of Numbers we see that God had spoken to Moses to go up to Canaan, to spy out the land “Which I am going to give to the sons of Israel”. We see from this first verse and through the following 32 verses that the people of Israel had a choice when they faced the “giants” that were in their path to the wonderful promised land. They had a choice, as well as we do each and every time we face a disaster, and that is to believe the “report of the Lord” that God had given them in the land of Canaan as an inheritance. Well, they seemed to have forgotten the Word of God that came to Moses from the Lord.
We will be tempted to react to what we see! That is a real temptation my friends, in light of the huge walls that look impossible to climb. It was for the Isrealites, who saw the men of that country who made them look as though they themselves were grasshoppers. As with us, whether or not it is a terminal disease diagnosed by the doctors, or a hopeless situation in the family, or whether or not it is financial crises, or even a job situation that is totally out of control. Whatever the case, we all have a choice, and must go back to the foundations of the Word of God for our Spiritual strength and faith in God. After the initial shock of the disaster strikes, we must begin to respond in our spirits from what we know and believe - Our faith in God!
- We must go back to the foundations of faith that we trusted before the disaster. That is the WORD OF GOD. This is where we will receive our help in time of trouble. Ps. 37:39, “But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: He is their strength in the time of trouble.” Ps. 27:5, “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock.” The Isrealites forgot the One who had delivered them, healed them, protected them, and cared for them, and failed to put their faith in the living God.
- We must go to God in prayer based on Who He is to us, and what He has said in His covenant Word that He will do for us and put our faith there. In Christ we have the most wonderful and precious promises, some are found in Eph. 3:20, Eph. 1:3, and 2nd Peter 1:4. In the old covenant it says in Ps 4:19, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” Ps 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;” and last of all Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
- We are to go to God our Father and state our case before Him, standing on His Holy Covenant Word. Isaiah 43:26 says “Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence.” To the wicked God says the opposite: “But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.” Ps. 50:16.
We are not like the wicked, but are found in Christ Jesus the Son, the Covenant one with whom we are in a Covenant relationship. That is why we are told to come boldly to the throne of Grace, so that we can find help in time of trouble. Praise the Lord! We are also in a better covenant than the one that they had in the old covenant and it is established on better promises. Heb. 8:6, “He is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.”
Going back to our story, we can also see in the following chapters that Caleb and Joshua had a different spirit! What kind of “spirit” did they possess? It was a spirit of faith in the living God that believed He was able to do what He said. We can see from vs. 30 and chpter 14 vs. 24 that Caleb had a different faith than most of the others that were called the people of God in that day. “But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.” Did Caleb and Joshua have to face the SAME GIANTS AND IMPENETRABLE walls? Yes they did! Did they achieve what the others could not do? Yes, by the hand of the Lord that is with those who believe that He is willing and able to help those who come to Him.
(See Joshua Ch. 6) How did Joshua do the impossible, what kept him from straying like those before him? It is recorded in Ch. 1 of Joshua the “key” to what I believe is Joshua’s success. In verses 5-8, God says to Joshua vs .7-9, “Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, (or the Word of God) which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
God gave Joshua his utmost assurance that he would be with him wherever he would go and would cause Joshua success, IF he would keep the law of God ever before him. What does the Word of God do for us that we should keep it before us? Jesus said in John 15:7-8, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” In the Gospel of Mark, Chp. 16 vs. 20 it says “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.”
God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit will be with us and go with us in each and every situation that we face and will even send ministering spirits, which are His angels, to assist us. However we must stand on the Word of God, which are His covenant promises that we know to be true and declare it before the situations and circumstances that we are facing.
Let us hold fast to the Lord, His Holy Word, promises of the Father and bring glory to him even in the midst of the storms and trials of life. It won’t be easy, but we can do it and we must do it if we want to be overcomers and victorious in Christ who has given us the victory.
Let’s keep the faith that we once knew in our hearts alive and afresh trusting in God though Jesus our Redeemer according to His Covenant Word and grace.
How can we know which relationships to enter into Casually and which ones we are to enter into Prayerfully?
If you are a businessman, a minister, a student, or a Christian in any walk of life and you are desiring to know for sure if your are to enter into a relationship for MORE than casual purposes, then this message is for you.
I believe that we are in the last days and more than ever before we are to be mindful of the relationships that we are building and entering into because they can shape our destinies in a positive or negative way! We are all in need of friends, and enjoy new relationships, but these are what we will call Casual Relationships. We are not referring to these when we are saying that we should be selective in choosing carefully or entering carefully a relationship or partnership.
I believe that God, by his Spirit is looking to direct our steps as we begin to look at entering into relationships that will financialy, materialy, socialy, or spiritualy affect our lives. When we address this type of relationship; we are speaking of a serious contractual or covenant type of relationship, which we need for business, social behavior or ministerial future.
As we look into the Word of God a particular scripture comes to mind in the relationship of David and a friend called Jonathan. 1st Sam. 18:1, “And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” Then in Vs. 3 we see that Jonathan made a covenant with David, “Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.”
In other words, the Spirit of the Lord himself knitted their hearts together in a “SPECIAL BOND OF LOVE” so that their lives would impact one another’s in the years to come, which was the case. The world would possibly call this “love at first sight,” but this was no ordinary love, but one that was caused or inspired by the Spirit of God.
Whatever the case in your life, business, ministry or social relationship may be, we need to allow the Lord to direct our steps as we commit ourselves to someone else in a serious partnership that will affect our futures.
We should KNOW THEM:
a. By their reputation (Acts 6:3/ Gal 2:2b. By the Spirits leading (Ro. 8:14/8:16/1st John 4:13
c. By prayerful commitment to God (Proverbs 3:5-6/ Prov. 16:3
In summary, we should know their reputation before entering a relationship of this nature. We should be led by the inward knowing of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom and knowledge that He brings to us, and by committing the decision to the Lord so that our plans will be established with the full potential of being a success.
The Word says in Proverbs 20:27, “The spirit of man (that is your spirit) is the lamp of the Lord, (that is the place where illumination, or truth will come to) searching all the innermost parts of his being.” Sometimes however, we are not willing to wait on the revealed knowledge from the Spirit of God but want to plunge into a decision that will forever change our lives or futures. The Word also says in Prov. 20:5 that “A plan in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding draws it out.” In other words, we should wait on the Lord, prayerfully before we make decisions that will impact our lives, having committed them to God with the confidence that He is and will lead us because he truly cares for you and I.
Let us walk in the light of God’s leading this year and be truly blessed in all of life’s relationships.
What is the Nature of the Fatherhood of God, According to the Word?
Most scholars know that Jesus was the exact representation of the Father because of what He constantly said about the Father in the Gospels. We also see in the Book of Hebrews Ch. 1 vs. 3 concerning Jesus, “And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.” We also see further in the Gospel of John that Jesus did only what the Father had sent Him to accomplish and what to say and speak.
John 14:8-9 states that Philip said to Jesus, “Show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus then replied with these words, “Have I been so long with you, and you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, show us the Father?” Verse 10 continues with, “I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.” Again in the 12th chapter Jesus is saying the same thing; that He did not speak on His own initiative, “but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me commandment, what to say, and what to speak.”
Jesus said to them in John 8:19 that “You know neither Me, nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also.” In John 5:19 we see Jesus describing the Works of God as he says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” Vs. 20: “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He himself is doing; and greater works than these will He show Him, that you may marvel.” In the 23rd verse we see Jesus saying, “He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” Jesus also said in John 8:54, “You have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I shall be a liar like you, but I do know Him, and keep His Word.”
Again we see Jesus restating why he does the things that he is doing in John 10:37, “If I do not do the works of My father, do not believe Me; but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.”
What characteristics did Jesus show us about the Father then while He was here on the earth? Was He compassionate, forgiving, longsuffering, full of mercy and showing kindness to those on the earth? Yes, certainly He demonstrated all of those “Fatherly and heavenly virtues”; yet at the same time we still believe the lie that God is out to get us and MUST certainly be mad at us for some unknown reason.
As we continue to look at the Fatherhood of God, we must of necessity look at the “Love” side of God. Did He truly love mankind and especially those who received Jesus? The answer is given to us in the Gospels again through His Son Jesus. We know from the famous passage of scripture in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son..”. Did you ever note the word “SO” that is an exclamation point to accent the word “Loved”. God is saying that there was an extreme measure of love coming from out of Him toward us, that He wanted to pour it out on us; you and I while we were yet sinners and separated from Him. We see in Romans 8:32, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?”
It is the Love and compassion of God our Father that reaches out to us time and time again when we have missed it so terribly and have strayed from the house of God, or the fellowship of God and the brethren whom Christ died for. If you don’t believe me, read the story of what we call the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. It shows and demonstrates the Love a father has for his lost son. Certainly God the Father who is not carnal like us, has even greater compassion and mercy to show to us when we sin or fall short of our expectations, not to mention his expectations.
In John 16:27 we see Jesus speaking about the Father’s Love: “For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father.” Again in John 17:22-23 we see Jesus stating emphatically the love God has for us: “And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me.”
We also see that in James 1:17 the heart and nature of the Father: “ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” Someone might say, if God has not changed then why did He seem so different in the Old Testament or Covenant? The reason is simple; it is because of the Covenant that He offered to Israel and the conditions of the covenant. When they obeyed they were blessed, but when they were rebellious God dealt with them. When they repented and walked with Him they were extremely blessed, protected, healthy, and favored among all peoples of the earth.
Let us look at this final scripture in Deuteronomy 5:29, “O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear Me, and keep all My commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!”
God is not mad at you, but loves you affectionately today as He has before. However, there is a penalty for sin's deeds and if we abide in sin without repentance and asking forgiveness then we leave room for the one who condemns, kills, steals, and desires to destroy you and me. (John 10:10)
Let us run to the Father today, the One who never changes, the One who has loved us and has forgiven us many times because He truly desires your love, fellowship and communion. Welcome home brother!
