HOLD FAST YOUR CONFIDENCE!

Hold fast your confidence today! That is so important with things in the world becoming more and more unsure. The temptation for you and I will be to give up on our Walk of Faith toward God, but do not do it! That is exactly what the enemy of righteousness desires. Instead, hold fast your confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Holy Word, and instead dig into His Covenant Word all the more, meditating on it to combat the evils of this world. The Word will deliver you, for God is watching over it to perform it in your life and has sent it to accomplish good.

Hebrews 3:6 “Christ was faithful as a son over His house whose house we are, IF we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.”

Hebrews 3:14 “For we have become partakers of Christ IF we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end.”

Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be which goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, without succeeding in the matter in which I sent it.”

Be blessed today! Hold fast your confidence in Him.

FAITH: — The key that changes the IMPOSSIBILITIES of man by the POSSIBILITY POWER of God!

What is faith? Have you ever asked yourself that question? The Bible definition from Hebrews 11:1 KJV is: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Our faith then is the substance of what we cannot see, that we are hoping for, or, as the original text says, expecting for. We also see that faith is not used for things we see. A better description of faith for you and I to understand might be as follows: A demonstrated trust in God’s Word, (which is His character) followed by a choice we make daily by our corresponding actions. We must realize that faith is the necessary key to pleasing our Spiritual Father, and that without faith we can’t please Him as it is written in Hebrews 11:6.

Faith seems to be greatly misunderstood in certain circles of Christianity and others. Some people pray for faith, while others fast for it, yet still others seem to possess faith in great measures and areas of their lives. What, then, is the secret of possessing faith for different areas of our lives? The bible says that faith has been given to each one in a measure, according to Romans 12:3. This is a Saving Faith which comes as a result of hearing the Word of God. This faith and every type of faith comes the same way as explained in Romans 10:17: “So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of Christ.” NAS

If we are desiring to have more faith or just faith in a certain area, then we must follow the principles written in the Word of God. The following principles will help us grow in faith toward God and his Word:

Principle # 1 - We must put the seed of God’s Word into the ground of our heart as Jesus, the Son of God said in Mark 4:1-20. We alone are responsible for putting in the Word (or, seed of God). We must also understand that there are things that, if permitted, will enter into our hearts and choke out the Word of God. These are listed in vs. 19 as “worries of the world, deceitfulness of riches, and the desire for other things.” These will make the seed (God's Word) unfruitful or unable to bring about faith in our heart.

Principle # 2 - We must meditate on God’s Word if we are going to have good success at whatever we do as Christians.

Please see Joshua 1:8: “For then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” In the book of Psalm 1:2-3 we see: “...and in His law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season, his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” The last scripture is found in Psalm 119:97 which says: “How I love thy law, it is my meditation all the day.”

Principle # 3 - We must practice doing the Word or be a doer of the Word of God at every given opportunity. James 1:12 says: “But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” To be a doer of the Word of God takes practice, especially for your flesh and mind which needs to be retrained from all the bad habits of the World. The Word of God in Romans 12:2 says we “must not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind, that we may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” A good example of being a doer of the Word is found in Philippians 4:6, which tells us to “be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication let our request be made known unto God with our thanksgiving.” This will take discipline on our parts, but if we are ever going to become doers of the Word, and increase our faith in God and His Word, then we must apply it daily to our lives in this area.

Principle # 4 - We must give the Word of God 1st place in our lives if we truly desire to grow in faith or have faith for certain areas of our lives. In Psalm 119:24 we read, “Thy testimonies also are my delight; they are my counselors.” When a test or trial comes to our lives, most of us forget the Word that we have heard last Sunday or another time because that is all that we are getting. The test coming against our faith seems so large that we can’t fathom what we should possibly do, and so we find ourselves saying, “What am I going to do now?” We must, if we are going to be men and women of faith answer back to the questions - “IT IS WRITTEN!” We must go to the Word of God and see what it has to say about our situation and then apply it to our lives.

I believe that the Lord Almighty God is looking for His sons and daughters all over the earth to start believing in him the way that he has said that we were to believe. We are to stand by faith, and not by sight or feelings. We first believed by active faith in what we heard concerning His son, by giving our lives to Him. Why are we turning back now to believing just what we can see with our eyes and touch with our physical senses? Let us not shrink back again to a former life style of trusting in the world and it’s system and all that is has to offer, but let us press on to maturity in trusting the Living God by Faith!

When you are tempted to quit because of the situation that you are going through, remember this Word that you are reading today. The Old Testament and New Testament believers had one thing in common and that is they believed that their faith was in the living God. They believed the scriptures to be the infallible Word of God inspired by the Holy Spirit, though written by many men over many years. They also believed as Abraham, Moses, Abel, Enoch, Noah, Sarah, Paul, Peter, James and John that according to lst John 5:4: “Whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world, —OUR FAITH.”

-------------------
FEAR

FEAR is real. It is something that we must all deal with as we go through life’s journey. However, we must recognize that fear is exactly what Paul told Timothy it was: It is a spirit that is sent to torment us in the realm of our minds until we make a bad decision based on the fear that is driving us. Instead, we must resist the spirit of fear, take our authority over it, and speak the Word as Jesus did and say, “IT IS WRITTEN”, and speak the appropriate Word for our occasion.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2nd Tim. 1:7 KJV

Paul’s admonition to Timothy should be heeded by all of us. Remember that the Power of God’s indwelling Spirit and the love of God that the Holy Spirit has shed abroad in our hearts is more powerful than Faith itself, and that we are to discipline our minds. That is, we are to take captive every thought which is trying to exalt or be raised up against the Word of Christ.

“We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” 2nd Corinthians 10:5 NAS

Remember this: FEAR is the devil’s tool that he drives men with to run from circumstances, situations, and confrontations; But FAITH is the gift of God, that we have received from Him. If we apply our Faith in God, it has the power to overcome anything that we face in the world.

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world: OUR FAITH.” 1st John 5:4 NAS

“For what I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.” John 3:25 NAS

Satan is still the thief that comes to steal, kill and to destroy, but Jesus came to bring us abundant life: “The thief comes only to steal and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.” John 10:10 NAS

YOUR PLANS OR GOD’S PLANS, YOU MUST DECIDE!

Have you ever rushed into this decision or that decision only to find no peace or joy? Then you must return to where your peace is and commit your plans to the Lord. Wait for His approval and let the peace and joy return to your soul and your spirit, knowing He will establish you and your plans.

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established.”

Ps 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord; roll and repose [each care of] your load on Him; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him, and He will bring it to pass” Amplified

Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, and then the peace of God which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” NAS

Make your plans known to God today, and get His stamp of approval and watch Him establish you and all of the plans that you have brought to Him.

--------------------
LOVE

Love today. That is the key to all victory!

“Faith worketh through love.” Galatians 5:6 NAS

If your faith has seemingly been short circuited by a lack of power, then place a ground wire of love's foundation with your faith and watch the power of faith flow again from your heart to God.

1st Cor. 13:13 “but now abide faith, hope, and love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” NAS

--------------------
THE GOD OF HOPE

Have you been feeling down, burdened by feelings or impressions of hopelessness? God offers you good news. He is the God of All Hope. Therefore, you can put your hopeless situations into His hands and cast all you burdens upon Him, for He careth for you.

Romans 15:13 (NAS) “Now may the God of all Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Our God is the God of all Hope because He takes all of our impossibilities and makes them possibilities, for hope put in Him is not disappointed nor fails.

1st Peter 5:7 (NAS) “Casting all your (cares) or anxiety upon Him, because He cares for You.”

Won’t you put your hope upon Him today and receive the peace and Joy that belongs to you?

KNOWING GOD'S WILL

If you are struggling today with knowing the will of God for your life then consider this: That Jesus came to show us the Father of lights by His life, and what he did in deed. Jesus said " I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of Him who sent Me." John 6:38. Jesus also said in John 4:34 "My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work." And finally, Jesus said in John 5:19 "Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does; these things the Son also does in like manner."

Please look carefully at the life that Jesus revealed to those would believe and see what Jesus purchased for you through His shed blood and His redemption for man kind.

Here are some of the wonderful benefits that were purchased for you through his shed blood and stripes on Calvary: Eternal Life and healing, deliverance, joy, peace, and the most wonderful covenant ever offered to mankind.

--------------------
JESUS IS THE WAY

Jesus said "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me." Choose the abundant life today through Jesus Christ the Son of God.

--------------------
WHAT YOU CONFESS

What you believe and what you confess will rule your life. Believe the Word of God, confess the Word of God for your life and those whom you love and care for.

Romans 10: 9 & 10 "if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses resulting in salvation."

---------------------
SALVATION

How much does God love you today? When God had you in mind, He looked around heaven and saw the most precious Gift that a Father could give and He gave Him (Jesus) His only Son to you and for you. Receive Him today and the Salvation, healing, deliverance, and abundant life that He has already made provision for your life.

John 10:10 "I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly."

Romans 6:23 "for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

--------------------
ACCEPTING GOD'S LOVE

The words Jesus spoke, recorded below are so powerful that, we have not yet comprehended what He did or what God did in sending His love in Jesus Christ, but we must except the Word of Jesus and the Covenant of God as a child if we are to realize the full benefits of His provisions.

John 3:16 NAS "For God so loved the World, that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

Hebrews 11:6 "Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and THAT HE IS A REWARDER of those who seek Him."

THE IMPACT OF GOD’S WORD AS SEEN IN THE PARABLE OF THE SOWER

Let's look at the account of the parable of the sower recorded in Mark’s Gospel in Ch. 4 starting with vs. 3-25. I want you to notice three things today that will help all of us as we try to understand the impact that the Word of God has on our lives.

1. We must hear the Word of God long enough for it to cause us to wonder, mediate, and to believe it. Most Christians will tell you that they have heard the Word of God alright, but they have not stayed with it long enough through the persecutions, trials, temptations and tests that the enemy brings upon them, so that they will produce fruit of any lasting result. Please see vs. 15-19 where we see that the enemy immediately comes to steal the Word or Seed of God. That is exactly what Jesus said to us in John 10:10. The Word is the only written book that the enemy wants to steal from you and I. It is the only Real Word that brings lasting faith into our hearts as we read it. (See Ro. 10:17) We find that the Word of God is made of non-affect by three things and three ways.

a. The worries of the world
b. The deceitfulness of riches
c. And the desires of other things
2. The second thing that we must do is ACCEPT the Word of God for what it is and Says! Vs. 20 says “And those are the ones on whom seed was sown on the good soil: and they hear the word and accept it!” So we not only have to go to a place called church or a fellowship and hear the Word or Seed of God, but we must come to a place where we accept it as GOD HAS placed a vital importance on it. Remember God’s Word is His covenant pledge and contract to us through the blood of His only beloved Son, Jesus. When we do this we will start to appear strange to some of those folks around us, believing what God said instead of what religion says. But something else will happen to us at this time as we honor the Word of God - the Word of God will begin to impact our lives in a positive manner.

3. The next and last thing that I would like us to look at today is that we must allow the Word of God to bear FRUIT in our lives, by staying close to it. In Vs. 20 it says that “They hear the word and accept it, and bear fruit, thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold”. Because the devil is constantly trying to seal the Word of God from our hearts in the above-mentioned ways, we must constantly put more and more in because it is the Pearl of Great price that God has given to us. We have seen that that the devil wants to steal it, but God wants His Word to impact our lives so that we bear fruit. I don’t know about you, but I want to bear more fruit this year and the next year to come. I hope this year that you will determine to hear more of the Word of God, accept what you hear from the Spirit of God through his servants, and then stay by the Word of God long enough in the special areas that you want to see more effective fruit produced at, such as health, healing, finances, family life, peace, love, joy, faithfulness, and a multitude of others. See vs. 24, “By your standard of measure it shall be measured to you; and more shall be given you besides.”

--------------------

WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, WHAT DO WE FIND OURSELVES DOING?

I have a serious question to ask each of you today, and that is: What do you do when disaster strikes your life or someone close to you? It is a sobering question, one that may lead us back to a thought, or painful situation, that we might have not handled quite the way we desired to handle. If you and I are not satisfied with the way we handled that situation, crises or disaster, then we need to know what we can do the next time one comes knocking at our door.

When there is eminent death that threatens us or a family member from sickness or disease, or when a financial crises comes our way, or an unmovable mountain seems to stand in our way, we of necessity need to know how to respond to it and what to do. The lesson that we have today may help insure all of us that we are not floundering around, hoping needlessly that something will work out, but instead, by directing us back to the foundations of our faith in God, we can know that we have help in our current situation.

When disaster comes to each of us, as disasters seem to come, what is our reaction? If we are quite honest, we often wonder where we "missed it", or how did we “leave the barn door open” so to speak. We tend to panic in our situation and look to everything and everybody to help us except the One that we have given ourselves to in faith. If we look to the spiritual pilgrims before us, they seemed to react a little different than we do today.

In the 13th chapter of Numbers we see that God had spoken to Moses to go up to Canaan, to spy out the land “Which I am going to give to the sons of Israel”. We see from this first verse and through the following 32 verses that the people of Israel had a choice when they faced the “giants” that were in their path to the wonderful promised land. They had a choice, as well as we do each and every time we face a disaster, and that is to believe the “report of the Lord” that God had given them in the land of Canaan as an inheritance. Well, they seemed to have forgotten the Word of God that came to Moses from the Lord.

We will be tempted to react to what we see! That is a real temptation my friends, in light of the huge walls that look impossible to climb. It was for the Isrealites, who saw the men of that country who made them look as though they themselves were grasshoppers. As with us, whether or not it is a terminal disease diagnosed by the doctors, or a hopeless situation in the family, or whether or not it is financial crises, or even a job situation that is totally out of control. Whatever the case, we all have a choice, and must go back to the foundations of the Word of God for our Spiritual strength and faith in God. After the initial shock of the disaster strikes, we must begin to respond in our spirits from what we know and believe - Our faith in God!

  • We must go back to the foundations of faith that we trusted before the disaster. That is the WORD OF GOD. This is where we will receive our help in time of trouble. Ps. 37:39, “But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: He is their strength in the time of trouble.” Ps. 27:5, “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock.” The Isrealites forgot the One who had delivered them, healed them, protected them, and cared for them, and failed to put their faith in the living God.
  • We must go to God in prayer based on Who He is to us, and what He has said in His covenant Word that He will do for us and put our faith there. In Christ we have the most wonderful and precious promises, some are found in Eph. 3:20, Eph. 1:3, and 2nd Peter 1:4. In the old covenant it says in Ps 4:19, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.” Ps 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;” and last of all Isaiah 41:10, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
  • We are to go to God our Father and state our case before Him, standing on His Holy Covenant Word. Isaiah 43:26 says “Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence.” To the wicked God says the opposite: “But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.” Ps. 50:16.

We are not like the wicked, but are found in Christ Jesus the Son, the Covenant one with whom we are in a Covenant relationship. That is why we are told to come boldly to the throne of Grace, so that we can find help in time of trouble. Praise the Lord! We are also in a better covenant than the one that they had in the old covenant and it is established on better promises. Heb. 8:6, “He is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.”

Going back to our story, we can also see in the following chapters that Caleb and Joshua had a different spirit! What kind of “spirit” did they possess? It was a spirit of faith in the living God that believed He was able to do what He said. We can see from vs. 30 and chpter 14 vs. 24 that Caleb had a different faith than most of the others that were called the people of God in that day. “But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.” Did Caleb and Joshua have to face the SAME GIANTS AND IMPENETRABLE walls? Yes they did! Did they achieve what the others could not do? Yes, by the hand of the Lord that is with those who believe that He is willing and able to help those who come to Him.

(See Joshua Ch. 6) How did Joshua do the impossible, what kept him from straying like those before him? It is recorded in Ch. 1 of Joshua the “key” to what I believe is Joshua’s success. In verses 5-8, God says to Joshua vs .7-9, “Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, (or the Word of God) which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

God gave Joshua his utmost assurance that he would be with him wherever he would go and would cause Joshua success, IF he would keep the law of God ever before him. What does the Word of God do for us that we should keep it before us? Jesus said in John 15:7-8, “If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.” In the Gospel of Mark, Chp. 16 vs. 20 it says “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.”

God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit will be with us and go with us in each and every situation that we face and will even send ministering spirits, which are His angels, to assist us. However we must stand on the Word of God, which are His covenant promises that we know to be true and declare it before the situations and circumstances that we are facing.

Let us hold fast to the Lord, His Holy Word, promises of the Father and bring glory to him even in the midst of the storms and trials of life. It won’t be easy, but we can do it and we must do it if we want to be overcomers and victorious in Christ who has given us the victory.

Let’s keep the faith that we once knew in our hearts alive and afresh trusting in God though Jesus our Redeemer according to His Covenant Word and grace.

How can we know which relationships to enter into Casually and which ones we are to enter into Prayerfully?

If you are a businessman, a minister, a student, or a Christian in any walk of life and you are desiring to know for sure if your are to enter into a relationship for MORE than casual purposes, then this message is for you.

I believe that we are in the last days and more than ever before we are to be mindful of the relationships that we are building and entering into because they can shape our destinies in a positive or negative way! We are all in need of friends, and enjoy new relationships, but these are what we will call Casual Relationships. We are not referring to these when we are saying that we should be selective in choosing carefully or entering carefully a relationship or partnership.

I believe that God, by his Spirit is looking to direct our steps as we begin to look at entering into relationships that will financialy, materialy, socialy, or spiritualy affect our lives. When we address this type of relationship; we are speaking of a serious contractual or covenant type of relationship, which we need for business, social behavior or ministerial future.

As we look into the Word of God a particular scripture comes to mind in the relationship of David and a friend called Jonathan. 1st Sam. 18:1, “And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking unto Saul, that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” Then in Vs. 3 we see that Jonathan made a covenant with David, “Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.”

In other words, the Spirit of the Lord himself knitted their hearts together in a “SPECIAL BOND OF LOVE” so that their lives would impact one another’s in the years to come, which was the case. The world would possibly call this “love at first sight,” but this was no ordinary love, but one that was caused or inspired by the Spirit of God.

Whatever the case in your life, business, ministry or social relationship may be, we need to allow the Lord to direct our steps as we commit ourselves to someone else in a serious partnership that will affect our futures.

We should KNOW THEM:

a.    By their reputation (Acts 6:3/ Gal 2:2

b.    By the Spirits leading (Ro. 8:14/8:16/1st John 4:13

c.    By prayerful commitment to God (Proverbs 3:5-6/ Prov. 16:3

In summary, we should know their reputation before entering a relationship of this nature. We should be led by the inward knowing of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom and knowledge that He brings to us, and by committing the decision to the Lord so that our plans will be established with the full potential of being a success.

The Word says in Proverbs 20:27, “The spirit of man (that is your spirit) is the lamp of the Lord, (that is the place where illumination, or truth will come to) searching all the innermost parts of his being.” Sometimes however, we are not willing to wait on the revealed knowledge from the Spirit of God but want to plunge into a decision that will forever change our lives or futures. The Word also says in Prov. 20:5 that “A plan in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding draws it out.” In other words, we should wait on the Lord, prayerfully before we make decisions that will impact our lives, having committed them to God with the confidence that He is and will lead us because he truly cares for you and I.

Let us walk in the light of God’s leading this year and be truly blessed in all of life’s relationships.

What is the Nature of the Fatherhood of God, According to the Word?

Most scholars know that Jesus was the exact representation of the Father because of what He constantly said about the Father in the Gospels. We also see in the Book of Hebrews Ch. 1 vs. 3 concerning Jesus, “And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.” We also see further in the Gospel of John that Jesus did only what the Father had sent Him to accomplish and what to say and speak.

John 14:8-9 states that Philip said to Jesus, “Show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus then replied with these words, “Have I been so long with you, and you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, show us the Father?” Verse 10 continues with, “I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.” Again in the 12th chapter Jesus is saying the same thing; that He did not speak on His own initiative, “but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me commandment, what to say, and what to speak.”

Jesus said to them in John 8:19 that “You know neither Me, nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also.” In John 5:19 we see Jesus describing the Works of God as he says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.” Vs. 20: “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He himself is doing; and greater works than these will He show Him, that you may marvel.” In the 23rd verse we see Jesus saying, “He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” Jesus also said in John 8:54, “You have not come to know Him, but I know Him; and if I say that I do not know Him, I shall be a liar like you, but I do know Him, and keep His Word.”

Again we see Jesus restating why he does the things that he is doing in John 10:37, “If I do not do the works of My father, do not believe Me; but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father.”

What characteristics did Jesus show us about the Father then while He was here on the earth? Was He compassionate, forgiving, longsuffering, full of mercy and showing kindness to those on the earth? Yes, certainly He demonstrated all of those “Fatherly and heavenly virtues”; yet at the same time we still believe the lie that God is out to get us and MUST certainly be mad at us for some unknown reason.

As we continue to look at the Fatherhood of God, we must of necessity look at the “Love” side of God. Did He truly love mankind and especially those who received Jesus? The answer is given to us in the Gospels again through His Son Jesus. We know from the famous passage of scripture in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son..”. Did you ever note the word “SO” that is an exclamation point to accent the word “Loved”. God is saying that there was an extreme measure of love coming from out of Him toward us, that He wanted to pour it out on us; you and I while we were yet sinners and separated from Him. We see in Romans 8:32, “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?”

It is the Love and compassion of God our Father that reaches out to us time and time again when we have missed it so terribly and have strayed from the house of God, or the fellowship of God and the brethren whom Christ died for. If you don’t believe me, read the story of what we call the prodigal son in Luke 15:11-32. It shows and demonstrates the Love a father has for his lost son. Certainly God the Father who is not carnal like us, has even greater compassion and mercy to show to us when we sin or fall short of our expectations, not to mention his expectations.

In John 16:27 we see Jesus speaking about the Father’s Love: “For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father.” Again in John 17:22-23 we see Jesus stating emphatically the love God has for us: “And the glory which Thou hast given Me I have given to them; that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me.”

We also see that in James 1:17 the heart and nature of the Father: “ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” Someone might say, if God has not changed then why did He seem so different in the Old Testament or Covenant? The reason is simple; it is because of the Covenant that He offered to Israel and the conditions of the covenant. When they obeyed they were blessed, but when they were rebellious God dealt with them. When they repented and walked with Him they were extremely blessed, protected, healthy, and favored among all peoples of the earth.

Let us look at this final scripture in Deuteronomy 5:29, “O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear Me, and keep all My commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!”

God is not mad at you, but loves you affectionately today as He has before. However, there is a penalty for sin's deeds and if we abide in sin without repentance and asking forgiveness then we leave room for the one who condemns, kills, steals, and desires to destroy you and me. (John 10:10)

Let us run to the Father today, the One who never changes, the One who has loved us and has forgiven us many times because He truly desires your love, fellowship and communion. Welcome home brother!
