February - March 2003

We bring you greetings from Kenya in the precious name of Jesus Christ who is faithful to all generations! From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same, our Lord’s name is to be praised!!

We have had some rest time the last two months, due to the shingles virus that Gary incurred at the end of January and the beginning of February, while we were on a six day outing at Kimilili. The virus appeared on the second day of the ministry and has been very painful up until several weeks ago. Praise the lord, he is now recovered and ready to minister God’s mighty word in Kenya. We want to thank each of you for your prayers and support during this time. It is difficult to stay home when you know that the world is suffering from continued attacks, bombardments, assaults, and every work of the enemy, but this rest was necessary and needful for Gary’s health and well being.

We finished the work of the ministry in Kimilili on the 2nd of February with Janet ministering at one church while Gary was ministering at Pastor Kalike’s church. During the first service Gary ministered on the covenant and the second service (the main service) was on “What is in your hand, mouth, and heart?” The altar was full as seventy-five to a hundred men, women and children came to receive from the Lord Jesus Christ. There were several saved, filled with the Spirit of God, and many came for personal reasons. Gary called several other ministers to help with the altar call and the Spirit of God prevailed mightily upon the people of God.

Ministering at Pastor Kalike's church

Janet and I went out on the 6th of February to the top of Gilani’s restaurant to celebrate her birthday with Pastor Bonanza Wanjiku who had gone with us to Kimilili and ministered with us.

Pastor Kamau and his wife, Martha We cancelled one meeting on the 8th and 9th for Pastor Solomon Kamau (photo right, with wife Martha) who had invited us to Nyeri for a two day meeting. This was because of the pain that Gary was still experiencing, and we decided that it was the best thing to do. On the 22nd and 23rd of February we rescheduled with him and went for a two day meeting. We had good success as the church was filled for both Saturday and Sunday meetings. Saturday, Gary ministered on “Where is Jesus in your life?”, and many came to the altar to be ministered to. This church is in a predominantly Catholic area, so the word was perfect for the congregation who were mostly young Christians. Five members came for a deeper walk with the Lord Jesus, while six came for the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Then on Sunday, Gary ministered again on “Three ways that God desires to bless you, by what is in your hand, mouth, and heart”. Once again the altar was full as men and women came to the Lord Jesus Christ. Hearts were mended, lives saved, and hope went out to those who put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

We gave books out during the two days as the Spirit of God led us. Each was very appreciative of all that we brought to them, both spiritually and naturally.

We have also been ministering to the Asian community, praying for some and giving bibles to others as the Spirit of the Lord enables and leads us. Gary will be ministering next month in an Asian church, Naya Jeevan Sanghat, with a series on prayer throughout the whole month of April and in to May. Please agree with us that the Lord will continue to use us to reach these people in Kenya as they seem to be hungry for the Lord and His word.

We ended up the month of March ministering on the 16th at Pastor Chris Otieno’s church which had moved to Nakuru blanket area. Gary ministered two morning services. The first and the last were unscheduled, but the Lord was gracious and ministered in spite of the late request which came just five minutes before Gary was to minister that same morning. Gary ministered on the “Third Person of the God head” because many were young Christians and he felt led to minister on this line. In the second service (which was the main service) we ministered on “Where is Jesus in your life?”. As we prepared to leave early in the afternoon, we got another request to come back at 4:00 p.m. to minister again. The statement that we need to be 'instant in season and out', really comes to light as you minister here in Kenya. The congregation was receptive again to the Word of God and hearts were knitted together to the Lord Jesus as Gary ministered on “The Seed, the Ground and the Fruit”.

Although the last two months were a bit slow, we also continued to minister to some children as grandma and grandpa for several days while their mom and dad were off ministering at a youth rally here in Nakuru township. We enjoyed the time with the Anderson’s three kids as we have not seen ours in some time now.

Again, we want to thank all of you that have made the ministry here a success. Without all of your prayers and support we could not accomplish what the Lord has called us to do. Please receive our heartfelt thanks for all of your sacrifices, prayers and especially the updates on the situation in Iraq and the U.S. A special thanks goes out to Mission Angels for their love and personal gifts at a time most unexpected.

In Christ’s service and love,

Janet & Gary Priem
